As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to severely impact our health, occupations, social networks, and mental well-being, it has especially highlighted how marginalized communities are disproportionately affected. To understand these inequalities, SIETAR DC will be facilitating a panel on “Social Justice in the time of COVID” on May 27 at 5:30pm. The panel will consist of practitioners who will share their experiences and discuss a variety of topics such as how to be allies to marginalized communities; practicing respect, inclusivity and empathy in virtual spaces; the heightened digital divide during the pandemic and practical ideas as to action steps you can take. Panelists include:

  • Karin Edwards,Race & Ethnicity Dialogue Facilitator, American University

  • Lisa Fanning, Senior Manager of Diversity Programs, American Society of Hematology

  • Luby Ismail, Founder and President, Connecting Cultures
