Developing Self-Awareness and Global Consciousness through Yoga and Cross-Cultural Competence
One of the core elements to be an effective practitioner in the intercultural field is the ability to be self-aware and help our clients develop self-awareness. Our work emphasizes uniting people of different cultures. Similarly the definition of yoga is “to yoke” or “to unite” the body, mind, and spirit.

The practice of yoga incorporates much more than doing a headstand or sitting in lotus pose—it is a dedicated practice to seek awareness of one’s inner reality. The practice of yoga and developing cross-cultural competence are continual journeys towards higher consciousness and self-actualization. As we face a barrage of global struggles today, it is increasingly important to stay grounded and focused to successfully find solutions to unite others. As trainers, educators and mediators confronting these challenging times, it's important to equip ourselves with certain tools to engage with our clients and address their needs. Integrating basic principles of a yoga practice can further enhance our ability to develop these tools. This thought-provoking interactive session explores key concepts of yoga and provides insights into practical strategies to assimilating a yogic practice into your intercultural work. Attendees should be prepared to do some gentle stretching and breathing exercises (comfortable clothing is recommended). No prior experience with yoga is necessary to attend this session.
